Karen Wells spent her early career in the corporate environment where she was instrumental in developing the marketing division of a large medical-legal consulting firm, enabling them to increase their customer base from Northern California to an international clientele in less than 3 years.
With that success to her credit Karen joined an elite global business coaching franchise in 2004, when she was hand-selected by the founder to be the first franchisee, pioneering the testing & development of the business coaching methods and the franchise model now duplicated in over 80 office locations in 12 different countries.
Working intimately within many franchise structures including owning her own coaching franchise has given Karen an insider’s view of differing franchise models. She soon discovered that not all franchises are created equal and some are not structured to be in the best interest of the franchisee on the front lines of business ownership.
Now Karen is driven to significantly change the landscape for small businesses and in particular the franchise world through her business leadership and proven systems. “Every business deserves to be franchisable” says Karen. Whether a business actually wants to franchise or not the structure, systems and a full blown strategic plan for the future can build a wildly successful business that will last for years to come.
Whether it is the numbers or the process that needs to be focused on, Karen is quick to zero in on the solutions necessary for a business to thrive. Her clients have enjoyed results ranging from 15% to 85% increases in sales in as few as 6 weeks. One client achieved a 600% increase! Some of the clients that have benefitted from her expertise and training Include: Surewest, Togo’s, Edward Jones, Baskin Robbins, Airtop Technology Group, The UPS Store, Mr. Pickles, Mr. Sandless, and General Nutrition Center (GNC).
Karen is proud to have graduated with honors in each of her dual Bachelor degrees in Business Management and Marketing. She brings into the business world her experience in competitive team sports. She was named to the All-American team in fastpitch softball and holds a Women’s National American Softball Association title as a pitcher with a college career ERA of .72.
Awards. Karen was named Franchisee of the Year (twice) and Best Business Coach for Best of Citrus Heights, Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce.
Karen is happily single and lives with her weimaraner, Winston, and a pet muscovy duck, Chuck. Outside of work, she is very close with her parents, Ed and Mary Ann. She believes they are excellent role models for long-term happiness as they have been married for 45 years. She has a brother, sister-in-law, and three beautiful nieces whom she is proud to say have followed in her athletic footsteps.

Kari Hagensmith is committed to working with business owners to create the invincible business they desire. Systems, structure and knowing the numbers has grown this entrepreneur’s heart into a business owner advocate. Her specialty is in encouraging business owners to look past what they have not done in their business to what they can do. Creativity; in words as an author, storytelling as a speaker and visioning as a goals coach makes Kari a valuable member of The Secret Weapon Team.
Starting in sales as the first women hired as a manufacturer’s representative by one major New York clothing company, Kari became a cold calling machine. Her style of bold calling (in person) garnered her Sales Person of the Year two years in a row.
As a certified goals coach with Success Motivation Institute Kari worked with sales and executive management teams to align personal and professional goals with corporate goals.
Presentation skills have also come naturally to Kari and have been refined throughout her career. Hired as a speaker/lead generator for a private college speaking on high school and college campuses then as a speaker/sales executive with The Tax Reduction Institute the art of enrollment from in front of any room has become her specialty. Teaching business owners how to use speaking as the ultimate marketing strategy lead her to create the Speaking for Prospects & Profit workshop. “Now any business owner can fill their pipeline with their next speaking engagement.”
Kari continues to appear on radio and television to promote her niche book: The Girlfriend Will… a humorous look at those special requests not covered by your typical will, ones only a girlfriend should be in charge of when you are gone.
Kari has been married for over 25 years. She can be heard at local fundraisers as a live auctioneer and her favorite opportunity has been as a fill-in radio talk show host. Camping and fishing are Mark and Kari’s vacation favorites.
